League Shirts are available only during the fall leagues.
Practice Attire
Any type of athletic clothing is acceptable for team practices.
Team Uniform for Matches
Team shirts are for the Varsity, JV, & D-1 teams. The team shirt is to be worn on match day. Tennis shorts or tennis skirts can be white, black, or something that matches with the school colors and must be purchased on your own. Tennis Warehouse is a good online resource to purchase tennis attire & shoes.
Team Uniform Give Back Program
We have no future plans to change the middle school tennis league team uniform shirts. Therefore shirts from previous years can be worn. We also have a team uniform give-back program. Please check with your school’s coach to see if there is a uniform shirt in your child’s size that a past player has donated back. High school sports do the same for their sports teams. The average high school uniform has about a three to four-year cycle depending on the sport. Our league offers such a program for the main reason of preserving our planet’s resources by not creating more waste and one less expense for the families participating.
If your child is on the Loudoun North or Loudoun South Development team, the league shirt provided will be your child’s match play uniform. Any color shorts or tennis skirt is acceptable.
Shoes
It is recommended to play in proper tennis shoes. Tennis shoes can be any brand or color. Just as in basketball, volleyball, and track, tennis shoes are specifically designed for the type of movement on the tennis court. Running shoes are not recommended for practice or match play.
Tennis Racket & Racket Stringing
The recommended racket size for junior players is 26″ or 27″ GRAPHITE racket no heavier than 9oz. Alloy or aluminum rackets are not recommended. A good junior racket is about a $80-$100 investment.
